ALJF defends a fundamental right: the right of housing. It allows young people to pursue their formation in good conditions by providing affordable rooms. Functioning on the principle of “loan for use” agreement, ALJF has earned the trust of owners by proving itself an efficient and intelligent organisation.
Housing for our students!
Active in Lausanne for over 30 years, the Association for the Housing of Young People in Education aims to provide rooms to its members at an appropriate price. For this, the association negotiates with owners of temporarily unoccupied buildings, according to a Contrats de Prêt à Usage (CPU : article 305+ of the Swiss Civil Code), also known as a loan agreement. It also works to restore the loaned buildings within the available time and depending on the renovations and demolitions planned by the owner. The owners pay no fees and the association handles all potential refurbishing. A house or building that is inhabited and maintained benefits from less deterioration, and nurtures a sense of community and life in a neighbourhood. This is what has allowed the ALJF to earn the trust of numerous owners and to persist along the years.
